PokéBonk has an official desktop app for Windows and Linux, including Steam Deck. Open pokebonk.com and use App in the game menu. The v0.8.86 notes announce desktop app 1.3.0; game and app version numbers are separate. Browser play and community launchers remain distinct options.
November 1 release check: v0.8.86 announces desktop app 1.3.0: the Windows installer offers a folder choice and creates a shortcut; Linux/Steam Deck startup and right-click copy/paste receive fixes. v0.8.85 reports V-Sync is always enabled in the desktop app. Use the original game's App entry to check the current download. We did not install or benchmark it. Official notes.
Choose a route for your device
| Device | Official route | Before a long run |
|---|---|---|
| Windows PC or handheld | Use App on the original game for its official Windows download, or keep using the browser. | Check gamepad input, resolution, fullscreen and the expected account. |
| Linux / Steam Deck | Use App for the official Linux build. The checked menu offers AppImage and .deb packages. | Follow the download's installation instructions; check camera, movement and menus. |
| macOS | The v0.8.81 announcement says coming soon; the checked menu marks its package unavailable. Use the browser meanwhile. | Do not interpret the macOS label alone as an available download. |
| Android / AYN Thor | Use the official browser game; community launchers remain separate. | Check native gamepad versus touch emulation and which guest/account session opened. |
On October 31 the App entry linked to the developer’s v1.2.0 release. Start from the game menu when checking for a later package. We inspected the published download configuration; we did not install an app or test a physical handheld.
Steam Deck setup and a starting layout
For the official Linux app, open the original game's App entry in Desktop Mode, choose the available Linux package and follow its release instructions. Add the installed application with Steam's Add a Non-Steam Game action if you want a Gaming Mode shortcut. A browser shortcut is a different route and does not install the official app.
For the browser route, Valve’s Desktop Mode guide explains the PC environment. Open the original game in your installed browser and, if useful, add that browser to Steam. Configure one input route at a time: native gamepad or keyboard/mouse mapping.
Try this editorial keyboard/mouse mapping only if you choose emulation; it is not an official application preset:
| Deck input | Map to | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Left stick | WASD | Movement |
| Right stick or trackpad | Mouse | Camera / pointer |
| A | Space | Jump |
| X | E | Interact |
| Y | R | Ultimate |
| B | Shift | Slide |
| Rear button | Esc | Pause / back |
Before a long session, move while turning the camera, select an upgrade, interact and pause. Check the current assignments in Settings → Keys. A community report about a browser or wrapper is not a benchmark for the new official app.
Android handhelds and AYN Thor
Try the normal browser route first. Connect the controller before opening the game, press a gamepad button and check the in-game guide. If the interface is wrong, review Settings → Controls → Touch controls; use the mobile guide for the choices and graphics settings.
The AYN Thor community launcher loads the official website and provides direct controller input. Its documentation calls it a community preview requiring internet and Android 8+ with a WebGL-capable WebView. It also documents Start + Select → Controller diagnostics → Release all inputs and a session separate from Chrome. These are the maintainer's claims, not our device tests.
If you choose that route, follow its repository's current installation instructions and release page. Keep its native gamepad mode separate from touch-mapping overlays. Before switching, open the existing browser session and use Save to account; then verify the expected progress inside the destination. Do not uninstall the old environment while it holds the only copy of guest progress.
Official Windows app and community wrappers
Use App in the original game's menu for the official Windows build. The current download configuration lists installer and portable formats. Check the same account's League and Lab after switching; a new application session does not automatically import a browser guest. v0.8.85 announces account-backed suspended-run transfer; check sync before leaving the original session.
The official app has Settings → Display for window mode, resolution, monitor and graphics backend; v0.8.85 reports V-Sync always on. In app 1.2.0, Esc pauses/closes menus without leaving fullscreen; use F11 or the fullscreen button to leave it. Game and app versions are separate labels.
The previously documented Windows community client is an unofficial wrapper, not this app. Its own shortcuts and session behavior should not be presented as official-app instructions. The save guide explains guest conversion and announced account-backed cross-device saves.
Fix stuck movement, camera and missing progress
| Symptom | Checks to try |
|---|---|
| Character keeps moving after releasing a stick | Pause, release every input and refocus the game. Check whether both native gamepad and keyboard/touch emulation are active. Test one route at a time. |
| Moving the camera stops movement | Reproduce with a short left-stick + right-stick test. Compare the browser in Desktop and Gaming Mode; record which input layout causes it. Community Deck reports describe this problem, but do not establish one fix for every setup. |
| Touch buttons remain with a controller | Review Touch controls and reconnect/re-detect the controller. Do not assume visible touch buttons mean native input is unavailable. |
| UI is too large or clipped | Reset browser zoom, then adjust scaling gradually. Keep upgrade cards, Back and interaction prompts reachable. |
| New app shows an empty account | Return to the old session and check account versus guest status. Confirm the same account in the destination before clearing any data. |
| Lag or unreadable effects | Try Low quality, an FPS cap and lower attack opacity separately. These are troubleshooting options, not measured performance gains. |
The official v0.8.60 notes report fixes for Android edge-back and a stuck joystick; they also add controller L3 to release a fallen Alpha and Select for the map without pausing. Check the loaded game version when following an older controller report. Official notes.
For a useful bug report, record the device, OS, browser/WebView or wrapper version, loaded game version, input layout and exact reproduction steps. Never include passwords or session tokens. For general loading issues, use troubleshooting.
Sources and checks
The original browser/community setup was checked October 28, 2026. Device-specific statements are attributed to the linked Valve documentation, community thread and launcher READMEs. Game control settings use our v0.8.46 static reference with the explicit v0.8.60 changes above. This is a setup and troubleshooting guide; no Steam Deck, AYN Thor or Windows handheld compatibility certification, installer audit or benchmark was performed.
October 31 follow-up: official app availability, version 1.2.0 and Display/fullscreen changes were checked in the v0.8.79–83 notes, download configuration and English UI. No installer was run; no FPS or hardware compatibility test was performed.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an official Steam Deck or Windows download?
The developer announces Windows/Linux and Steam Deck support, with desktop app 1.3.0 in v0.8.86. Use the original game’s App entry; availability has not been independently installed or tested.
Will a community client import my browser guest save?
Do not assume it will. Save the original session to an account, then verify that account and its progress in the destination before deleting or clearing the old environment.
Is the app version the same as the game version?
No. The game check is v0.8.86; the announced desktop application is 1.3.0. The earlier Esc/fullscreen fix arrived in app 1.2.0.
