PokéBonk Evolution Guide: Starter Levels & Eevee Branches

Find Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle evolution levels, Eevee’s branches and reasons an evolution may wait. Separate in-run rules from mainline tables.

PokéBonk evolution happens inside a run. For the three starters, the reviewed thresholds are 24 → 41 for Bulbasaur, and 24 → 44 for Charmander and Squirtle. These are player levels in PokéBonk, not the familiar mainline levels 16 and 36.

Evolution changes your form and Ultimate. Recruiting the partner into your League is a separate progression system: use the unlock guide when your problem is a locked character rather than an unevolved form.

Starter evolution levels

Starting partnerFirst evolution thresholdFinal evolution threshold
BulbasaurLv.24 → IvysaurLv.41 → Venusaur
CharmanderLv.24 → CharmeleonLv.44 → Charizard
SquirtleLv.24 → WartortleLv.44 → Blastoise

These values come from traced v0.8.18 run logic. Resource readiness and processing state can delay a transition. A delayed first evolution can also affect later timing; this table is not a set of measured frame-perfect triggers. No stone or trade requirement appears in those three starter paths.

Why has my Pokémon not evolved?

Check the number you are looking at. Your player level, an equipped move's level, and a permanent Lab level are different. Reaching move level 8 makes a possible fusion input ready; it does not evolve your partner.

Next, check the family. Different League partners have different evolution paths. For example, the reviewed combat snapshot puts Caterpie's Metapod transition at 8 and Butterfree at 36, while Magikarp works toward Gyarados at 40. Do not apply a starter's thresholds to every partner.

If you have the expected player level, let the current transition finish and consult the in-game form/Ultimate display. The individual Pokédex profiles and expanded kits on the tier list connect families with their reviewed form data.

Eevee and branching families

The reviewed v0.8.25 League rules let Eevee choose between three level-36 branches with different types and Ultimates. Read the choice against the moves and bonuses you actually have: a new typing changes which attacks receive same-type support.

A branch in the general Pokémon reference does not prove that its familiar stone, friendship or trade requirement is used in PokéBonk. Use the game-specific branch information when available. We do not invent an item hunt from a mainline evolution chart.

What changes after evolution?

Your form's combat baseline and Ultimate can change. This is why a progression ranking covers the whole evolution line: a strong final form may still require a difficult opening. Check both the opening and later payoff when choosing a partner.

Evolution does not automatically finish every League challenge or give you the other unchosen starters. You still need the relevant challenge and later capture. For practical opening moves, passive effects and all three starter Ultimates, use the starter guide.

Reference values and sources

Updated October 25, 2026. The starter thresholds retain their v0.8.18 evidence; other examples and Eevee's branches use the v0.8.25 combat snapshot. Mainline evolution fields remain reference data, not automatically current run requirements. See source methodology and combat mechanics for the boundary between those datasets.
